What is there to know?

Fairy Cosparent, or cosplay godparent, has the role of helping integrate new cosplayers into the community, giving tips and introducing the cosplayer to the community spaces; people, conventions and cosplay culture in Portugal.

Within the Cosparent category we consider all Volunteers and Mentors, the latter always being Volunteers first.

We accept any applications, as long as they have the following minimum requisites:

â’ Be a cosplayer

â’ Be 18 or older to apply

â’ Have a skill that is relevant to cosplay

We do not quantify those skills by years, follower count or public recognition. Where there is will and potential to teach, there is a good Volunteer.

What is Fairy Cosparents' mission?

Most events are strictly promoted in Portuguese, despite cosplay being a hobby that has spread worldwide. Portugal, however, is a country where tourism is a big industry and has a lot of English literacy, which allows for the opportunity of non-portuguese speakers to integrate well into the portuguese cosplay community.

For those reasons, there is a growing necessity of bilingual support in portuguese projects, with the arrival of foreign cosplayers who want to discover what Portugal has to offer.

Inclusivity for Newcomers

1

Accessibility of Information

There is a widespread range of information that can be very overwhelming to a new cosplayer, and the right information can be hard to find amidst so many things.

By centralizing the information and making sure it is well categorized, we are looking to propagate and promote the best resources and tools and share real opinions about all things cosplay in collaboration with members of the Portuguese cosplay community. We also want to help newcomers get started in cosplay, by making learning less overwhelming.

2

Mentorships to give guidance

A Fairy Cosparent has two missions: one of a Volunteer, to help out the whole community; and one of a Mentor, who helps a single individual - also known as Newcomer - as if they were the mentor's cosplay godchild.

This goes as such to allow the Newcomer the possibility to ask questions more comfortably if they are shy or anxious while forming bonds with other cosplayers and minimizing giving up on the hobby.

We provide guidance through mentorships, as well as our discord; we are available to help.
